When you’ve spent months, sometimes years, planning your wedding, the last thing you want to worry about is your skin. Whether you’re planning well in advance or looking for a quick fix on the run up to the big day, take a look at our nine steps for flawless wedding-ready skin.
Skin care can be tricky at the best of times. From lifestyle choices and the environment to hormones and emotions, we don’t always get complete say over what happens to our skin. Blemishes come and go, but a good skin care routine can last a lifetime.
01. Fall Head Over Heels For Hydration
It might be age-old advise but it works - water really does work wonders for the skin. If you’re dehydrated, your skin can look flat, dull and tired. By drinking a few glasses of water each day, you’ll start to notice smooth, plumper and more radiant looking skin.
02. Choose Wisely
That burger and fries might look incredible, but remember - you are what you eat. You don’t have to be the cleanest eater on earth, but if you do switch up your fries for salads for a few days a week, you will see the difference in your skin.
03. Soak Up The Sun
Yes the sun might contribute to a few of your laughter lines, but it also gives you a healthy glow. Weeks before your wedding, try to get out as much as possible. By eating lunch outside, taking a morning walk or just reading a book in the sun, your skin will get the Vitamin D it needs to stay healthy and happy. But don't forget to apply sunscreen!
04. Keep It Clean
Cleansing is so important when you’re trying to achieve the skin you’ve always wanted. Taking off your makeup every night with a deep cleanser will make sure that your pores stay clean and clear. Blemishes will be no where in sight on the big day.
05. Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise
Now that you’re topping up your hydration, one glass of water at a time, you’re almost there. But, for an even more radiant glow, you’re going to want to make sure you moisturise like a pro. Opt for a moisturiser that is enriched with Vitamin A or E for ultimate hydration!
06. Why Walk When You Can Run
Whether you’re a fitness freak or absolutely allergic, getting your blood going is a great way to improve your skin tone. Not only will your skin benefit from the increased oxygen levels, but your energy will be up too - just what you need with a wedding on the way.
07. Take Some Time Out
And don’t forget to relax. Stress is a killer when it comes to your skin. When you’re suffering with stress, it shows all over your face. So, this gives you the perfect excuse to sit back, put on your favourite movie or pick up a good book. Do it for your skin!
08. Catch, Treat, Prevent
If you’re prone to break outs or tired looking skin, you’ll want to use a mask once a week. Charcoal masks are great for a deep cleanse and controlling breakouts, whereas anything with green tea will brighten up your skin.
09. Catch Some Z’s
And last but definitely not least, this is the most important point of all. Make sure you get a good nights sleep - every night of the week. When you sleep, your body restores and repairs. If you don’t get enough sleep, it will show. So get to bed early and benefit from bright eyes on your big day!
With our nine handy little hints, you’ll be able to banish those blemishes and walk down the aisle with the radiant complexion of your dreams.
