The beautiful mountains around Lake Louise in Canada provide a grand backdrop for this intimate ceremony.
Lyndel and Bob's stunning winter wedding has the perfect sprinkling of snow topped with white mukluks and a dusting of fur.
"Bob and I are both wanted to keep our wedding small and simple, so we decided get married out of town and only invite our immediate family. Lake Louise was the perfect location with the beautiful mountain scenery.
I spent the night before the wedding with my parents at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and I had my hair and makeup done in their room the morning of the wedding. We decided to do the "first look" before the ceremony, and had the majority of our pictures taken at that time so that we didn't have a big break for the guests between the ceremony and dinner. Bob and I had our first look outside the ballroom at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and had many of our pictures done there and outside on a terrace overlooking the lake.
I'm the youngest in my family and the only daughter, so my Mom was quite excited to go shopping for my wedding dress. I had fallen in love with Inbal Dror, Galia Lahav and Berta Bridal gowns (mostly thanks to Pinterest). When I walked into the Berta Bridal trunk show, I knew this was where I would find my gown. I probably would have been happy with 90% of the Berta gowns I tried on, but the one I picked was definitely "The One". It was a big decision to spend the money on a designer gown, but I justified it by planning on reselling the gown after my wedding.
We involved Bob's daughters by having them escort Bob down the aisle, and bring up the rings for us. To have us all look nice together in pictures without being too "matchy", we chose a purple tie for Bob, and dresses for the girls in different shades of purple. I also rented some fur wraps for the kids from Calgary Bridal Capes.
We didn't rent a place for a reception as it was quite expensive and there would only be 18 guests. The Post Hotel had a private dining area available, so we booked that and were able to stay there for as long as we liked after our delicious supper to visit and celebrate. This eliminated the need for decorations which reduced our costs even more. The Post Hotel also baked our wedding cake for us! We spent our wedding night there as well, and were welcomed into our beautiful room with champagne and strawberries.
The entire day felt very intimate and turned out to be perfect for us!
It would be wonderful to sell my gown and use that money to pay for the trip to our friends wedding in Curacao! I feel like my dress is too special to be stored in a closet for years to come. It definitely needs to go to another bride that would otherwise not be able to afford a designer gown!"
