The Dress

This is a true vintage 1930s intricate French lace dress, with a pure silk underlay and subtle fishtail train.

The dress has been lovingly sewn by hand. It has a boat neck and a low back, with dramatic bell sleeves. The sleeves are incredibly unique and are what made me fall in love with the dress!

The dress has a wonderful weight to it and feels incredible to wear. It fastens at the left hand side with a zip in the silk and small poppers for the lace. These are invisible when worn. It has subtle belt loops but doesn't come with a belt. These were left intact by my tailor to preserve the history of the dress but could be easily removed. It also has little loops and poppers inside the shoulders so a bra can be worn discretely if desired.

I would say this dress would fit a UK size 8-10. I am between sizes and it fit me perfectly. I am 5 ft 3 and wore a medium heel, and the length was perfect for me. Measured at the front of the dress, the length is 150cm.

The dress is overall in excellent condition given it's age. There are a few small holes/tears in the lace, however these aren't noticeable when wearing the dress. My tailor advised against repairing these however they could be bought together. The dress has a few marks which didn't come out when dry cleaned, however again these aren't noticeable when wearing as they are inside the underlay. Please accept that if you buy this dress, you are accepting the imperfections that come with buying a dress of this age. I have been fully upfront about the condition of the dress so unfortunately I won't be able to accept returns.

I bought this dress for £1500 from Frock Me vintage dress fair.

Please ask plenty of questions, and I'm happy to receive reasonable offers. I am really keen for the dress to go to another loving home.

The dress has been altered from a high to a low back in a V shape. All alterations have been sewn by hand to match the original work by a very experienced tailor.
