The Dress

The Jeanelle La'Amour Violet dress beautifully spans several styles: a romantic A-line flow, a bohemian contemporary lace, a deep v-neck with sheer mesh that gives support and comfort, and a stunning yet simple back. I loved wearing this dress because it didn't fit a traditional style and allowed me to express all the different aspects of my personality.

Wearing the dress was a breeze. I put custom cups in that could be adjusted if needed to be more or less padded (I went with a very thin liner), and didn't need to worry about special bra or shapewear. The mesh between the v-neck meant I wasn't worried about anything coming out of place, and it gave the dress a more conservative feel to counteract the lace bodice. The lining of the dress is soft with a slight stretch to it, so it was really comfortable on the day -- not scratchy or too hot and the material itself is light enough to be worn in warm weather (my wedding was mid-summer). The weight of the liner plus the lace overlay meant I could easily walk and the dress flowed nicely behind, as well as twirl and show off the full A-line shape. I chose to have the dress stay full length in the front and maintain the full train behind.

The dress was custom designed with Jeanelle La'Amour as a version of the Violet dress -- the standard Violet dress has a nude liner and white lace overlay, whereas this dress is a white liner and white lace, giving it more of a pop of white and not getting washed out with the nude. The lace itself is hand stitched with beads on the bodice that give the lace a bit of shine in the right light, without being too sparkly.

I wanted the option to feel like I had a veil without wearing anything on my head. So I added removable "wings" which were made of veil material, which connect to the top of the dress straps with a tiny clear button. I wore these as-is, but they can also be tied into two bows on the top of the straps to make them more prominent. I kept them on for the ceremony, then just unbuttoned and removed them for the reception. Similarly, the dress bustles quite easily with the train of the top lace layer connecting to small clear buttons. The liner is floor length and doesn't need to be bustled.

The dress was purchased brand new and worn once on my wedding day. I've professionally dry cleaned both the dress and the veil wings and it is stored horizontally so the lace doesn't stretch, in a dry location.

Alterations

Back of the dress has a second, optional eye hook for making the waist slightly tighter. The alterationist put this in so I had flexibility for the dress to be looser or tighter on the wedding day.

This dress can be altered easily to bring in the waist or take it out, shorten the length of the skirt and shoulders.
