The Dress

I couldn’t find my dream dress and my heart was torn between something structured, glamorous, and sparkly, and something light and ethereal. So, I had it made to strike a balance between the two!

This custom made ball gown dress made me feel like a princess on my wedding day. The team at Alexis George spent over 6 months crafting it with special attention going into the architecture of the removable overskirt, which needed to be hand sewn with a crinoline strong enough to support the fully beaded/sequinned chiffon that I chose because I fell in love with its sparkle. Photos don’t do justice to its appearance under light and the contrast between the sparkly structured overskirt and the fluffy tulle underneath.

The bodice of this dress, as you can see from the photos, is beaded/sequinned chiffon lined with satin with a full, training, French tulle skirt. There are no hoops or support, just metres of tulle to create its fullness. The overskirt is belted due to it being too heavy to be sewn into the dress, giving me the option of removing it for my reception, but I didn’t part with it for a minute. The train of the dress and overskirt measure approximately 1.8m in length.

If you’re up to 175cm tall with heels, the dress would suit in length and because it was custom made I would say its sizing is a generous 8 or small 10. Hip size is not an issue because of its ball gown style, flaring from the waist. The dress has also been professionally dry cleaned, with no stains or tears.
