Teniele & Pat's Vintage Wedding

What started as an innocent friendship developed over time and blossomed into a relationship that neither expected.

Teniele and Pat met at a music festival in Melbourne through mutual friends.

"After spending two and half years together it came as a wonderful surprise to me when Pat proposed on a holiday in Airlie beach in 2011. Due to an unexpected turn in the weather, Pats plans to drive to a waterfall were dashed so he was forced to improvise. He found a beautiful hut by the water and told me to close my eyes and put on some headphones. When I opened my eyes Pat was kneeling in front of me, holding up hand written cards one after the other (our favourite song singing in my ears). Eventually... after some very loving, and funny written words, Pat took off the headphones and asked me to marry him, of course I said YES!

We set our date for 26th January 2013. We wanted an outdoor ceremony and a cosy atmosphere for our reception. We chose Emu Bottom Homestead in Sunbury, Victoria for both our ceremony and reception. Emu Bottom was built in the 1800's and would create a beautiful scene for our photos. With 2 years to plan I quickly began searching through bridal magazines, creating inspiration boards on Pinterest and reading up on other brides’ advice on forums such as The Knot.

I had four lovely bridesmaids, my two sisters, and my two best friends. We found their dresses on ligtinthebox.com, I decided on a navy blue knee length dress and matched them with bouquets of ivory and baby pink David Austin roses made up by 'Blossoms on Bell'.

I decided I would wear a vintage style wedding dress, ivory in colour. I knew exactly what I was after before I hit the shops and I found my dream dress at Baccini & Hill not long into my search. The designers helped me add a few of my own touches that made my dress unique to others. The most difficult thing was probably finding the shoes to match my stunning dress, eventually I found them at Alan Pinkus. The icing on top was a beautiful pearl bracelet my grandma gave me the morning of the wedding which had belonged to my great grandmother.

The big day all fell together nicely and luckily we avoided all the 40 degree days that fell either side of the big day. We had done as much as we could do to plan, now it was time to enjoy our special day with our dearest friends and family. It is true what they say about it all being over so quickly, you really do just need to take a second and sit back and take it all in. Our special day provided us with memories we will never forget, I don't think I stopped smiling the whole day.

I got to marry my best friend and that is what it is all about."

Congratulations on your marriage Teniele and Pat! Thank you for sharing your special day with us.

Well the platform is ok, I really like the idea of it. The person who sold the dress was great and responsive but I also tried to buy a dress from someone else first who was not responsive.
