Steph and Ryan had a summer wedding in the her Mum's picturesque backyard. With a love for design, styling and little details, the opportunity to style her own wedding in such a personal place was extra meaningful for this bride.
From the bride: "We didn’t have a formal wedding party but a close girlfriend and I spent the night before at Mum’s house. We’re both morning people so we woke at dawn and sat on the back deck drinking endless cups of tea, reflecting on life and admiring the peaceful setting that would soon be filled with my husband’s and my nearest and dearest.
I experimented with a completely different style dress to begin with but changed my mind after fitting on the finished product. Although I still love my original idea (and have since had that dress altered so that I can wear it as an occasion dress), I’m so glad I opted for the 'Lottie' gown by Jane Hill in the end. It is the most elegant and flattering style. With a bias cut and single seam down the back, I was so comfortable all day. I just wish I had another occasion to wear it. Listing it for sale is one of the harder things I’ve done in my life!
An informal canape-style backyard reception immediately followed the ceremony at the same venue. We wanted the day to be as relaxed as possible for everyone, and we didn’t want our guests to wait or have to move to a different venue.
We actually have a baby on the way (due a week after our first wedding anniversary!) so with the money from the sale we are planning to renovate the baby's room this year."
