High school sweethearts Sophia and Tim dated for 10 years before deciding to tie the knot in a fun and casual affair. Sophia shares their story:
"We were going for a weekend away to the ‘Gentleman of the Road’ music festival in Dungog, leaving on the Friday. After dinner when I was on my way home I talked to Tim on the phone to make sure he got to work safe and say goodnight. When I got home it was late and dark, I was trying to unlock the door when suddenly it opened. It scared me half to death. Tim was there with roses and candles. That is when he proposed. It was such a surprise. I waited for this moment for more than 10 years.
I brought the very first dress I looked at, I knew as soon as I saw it, that it was perfect. It was relaxed and comfortable and so beautiful. It was the same picking the girl’s dresses, we only went looking once and found them straight away. I knew I wanted something neutral to match the orange in the flowers.
As I used to work as a florist I did all my own flowers, my friend made the cake, and my bridesmaids and I all did our own hair and makeup. It was a very DIY wedding. The morning of the wedding I was baking cupcakes at 6am and set up the decorations in the yard. I only had a shower and started getting ready an hour before I had to leave.
We had the reception in my mum's backyard with wood fired pizzas for dinner and cake and lollies for dessert. It was such a fun night and everyone was relaxed and had fun. It was so much fun we were the last to leave early in the morning. We had an hour sleep before getting up to go to Melbourne for a few nights. We went for our proper honeymoon 6 months after the wedding. We had 6 weeks in America, which was amazing.
The ultimate low fuss, easy and fun wedding day! Thank you for sharing your photos with us Sophia.
