Elise and Alisdair's mountain lodge wedding has an enchanting vintage, carnival-in-the-woods feel. Elise shares their story:
"Al was planning a kid's holiday club that was being run by the church we both go to. We had met before, but only briefly. Al sent out an email to a heap of people asking for help, and only I replied! And, the rest is history!
We planned our wedding in 6 months, so it was a busy time. We planned every detail together though (except for the dress shopping of course!) And we got plenty of help from family and friends - the times spent with them invitation making and flower arranging were very special. Being a Brisbane bride, I really enjoyed browsing the Sunshine Coast wedding blog, The Bride's Tree for tips, vendors, and general inspiration!
We were both so excited on the day. It's such an exciting time - having all of your favourite people together at once! I felt bad for Al though because the morning of the wedding, all I had to do was sit around and have my hair and make-up done, while he was directing all of the decorating and setting up. And he did an amazing job.
I found my dress at the second shop I visited. I wasn't even intending on wedding dress shopping that day, I just called in on my way home! Al found his suit quite early on, but was determined to get his grooms suits from op shops, which was tricky! We had a miraculous find though, and bought the last two suits 1 week before the wedding!
Our family helped out a lot with the reception. Al's sister sewed bunting, Al's mum baked our wedding cake, my mum sourced a vintage typewriter for people to leave messages for us, and my sister-in-law painted the cake topper decorations (which were from my Mum and Dad's wedding). I decided quite early on that I wanted to make my own bouquets out of dried flowers."
Thank you for showing us your wedding album Elise! After designing her wedding invitations together with her husband, Elise has found a passion for design. She is hoping to put the money from selling her Justin Alexander wedding dress towards going to college to study graphic design.
