This dress is 100% silk with a sheer, textured outer layer and two inner layers made up of a sturdier silk. There is a front slit on the left leg side, but it’s not really obvious when wearing it. The dress moves like a dream.

The bodice is thick and sturdy, and I did not need a bra with it. There is boning that holds the bodice up without the dress feeling overly restrictive. My tailor originally added some more boning which did help it look a little less rumpled in the front, but I ended up taking it out because I didn’t find it comfortable. Just wanted to throw it out there that that’s an option! I will include these pieces in the package when shipping if you’d like to have a tailor add them back in.

Worn once on my wedding day for about 6 hours. I was nervous to take this to a dry cleaner because the outer layer of silk is a little delicate, so I instead handwashed the entire dress in cool water with a fragrance-free handwashing detergent (photos are post-wash). I got all the dirt out of the hem and train but there are a few very small grass stains around the hem as pictured. There are a couple places around the sleeves with some loose threads, but I will leave this up to you if you want to fix it as it’s not noticable when wearing.

Alterations

The most significant alteration I made was turning the puff sleeves into a flutter sleeve (sorry puff sleeve lovers!) but this gave the sleeves beautiful movement, and there were two layers so I had the tailor make the top layer a little bit shorter for visual interest, kind of inspired by the Truvelle Lillie dress
Other alterations: I had the bodice taken in about an inch, but I’m pretty sure that could be taken out again to the original 30” waist and 36” bodice as I can feel that there is excess fabric inside the seams
I will say though that it helps to have the dress be snug and squeeze you in just a little so that it stays up and provides bust support while still leaving some breathing room
I also had the dress hemmed to floor length for me at 5’8” with shoes
My tailor added a bustle that was super easy to do up with only two buttons and two loops - I had a random guest help me bustle my dress in like 30 seconds after I gave her a brief explanation
