About the Dress
This simple but flattering dress is begging to make another bride’s day. It is a single zipper in the back, easy to wear and move in, machine washable, and ironable (it should not be dry cleaned). I found it to be comfortable during my entire wedding day in the middle of July and flattering in various degrees of sunlight and poses. I am open to offers if you’re the next bride for this dress.
This dress is double lined. The lace is sewn to a satin polyester. The lace pattern is a very subtle floral, looking like connected leaves and flowers. The inner slip is a silky polyester that is minimally attached to the dress at the shoulders, the armpits, around the zipper, and at the bottom hem. The inner slip also contains the bra cups.
You could alter this dress to a slightly larger size by removing the inner lining, especially providing extra room around the bust if you remove the cups. It would also be simple to shorten as it has no train or bottom lace pattern. The cap sleeves could be removed by a seamstress into a sleeveless or even strapless option.
I found the length to be very comfortable in flats or my 2 inch heels. It also is loose enough around the legs that I could easily pick up the hem myself and take large steps without any strain. We are not dancers but I imagine it would be good for that too.
The sweetheart neckline and folded petal sleeves are modest for LDS garments. I also wore a bra under the dress on my wedding day and the bra straps never showed.
The majority of the wear on the dress is on the bottom hem. I took bridal pictures on a rocky beach and then walked around concrete and carpet during my wedding day. The fabric is slightly grayed in places on the hem and the lace has a frayed in a few places as well. There is also minimally frayed lace around the bottom of the zipper, the back of the knees, and under the arms where I sat and hugged people.
I can no longer fit into this dress after having 2 kids. My current measurements are: bust 40’’, waist 34”, hips 47.5” and I’m still 5’3”. I currently weigh 195 pounds while I weighed 165 pounds when I wore this dress. The hips (and bum) are the biggest reason this dress no longer fits me. Hopefully this measurements and those listed above help you determine if it would fit you.
A note about the pictures. I am wearing an unattached belt in all the pictures and have a veil in some. I loved the belt as it emphasized my smaller waist and provided some bling to this simple dress. The bow and flowy fabric you can see in the side and back pictures of the dress are also part of the belt. I am not selling the belt or the veil.
Alterations
The sleeves were altered to fit it to my arms and neckline. You can see that armhole was taken in about a 1/4 an inch on both sleeves. Also the shoulder seams on both sleeves was taken in about 1/2 an inch. My upper arms are not super skinny since I have muscle from running and throwing a ball for sports, again for your reference on fit.
