Madi Lane, Danica

This is an unaltered, brand-new "Danica" by Madi Lane, size 12, purchased from a local boutique in the Summer of 2004. It was tried on once at the store at pickup, but otherwise has been stored in a garment bag out of the sun and in a pet-free area.

Danica is an A-line dress with a soft, pink-hued underlining (they call it "mocha" but it is definitely not tan!), and sheet-lace overlay. The embroidered flowers and leaves are accented with tiny sequins, giving the details a visual "pop" that I didn't notice on other dresses when I was looking. The sides are a sheer illusion panel with corset-inspired lace-up details. (The laces do not tighten, and there is no black in the dress—I wore the wrong underthings that day!)

Although I didn't end up wearing this dress, one of the things I loved about it was how soft and light the fabric felt. (I tried on a lot of dresses where the fabric felt stiff, scratchy, or otherwise cheap.) The photos of me were taken without any petticoats under the dress, so the skirt would definitely poof out more if you added one (for a more classic A-line look), or it would also be absolutely lovely without a petticoat and hemmed to the right height.
