About the Dress

The iconic Australian couturier Laurence Shiels designed and made my dress which I’m listing for sale. I remember the walls of his work room in Sydney adorned with photos of celebrities he dressed from the 80’s and 90’s and the level of care and detail he put into dressing me for my wedding.

For sale is a 2 piece ivory magnolia duchess silk skirt with a bodice top of French Guipure lace in tones of latte and ivory. The covered buttons have been handmade and much of the outfit has been hand stitched. Antiqued dye style handmade rosettes on the back of the bodice and the hand dyed veil (the veil does need a little restoring) add a whimsical touch. The colour is so pretty and the workmanship from the boning in the bodice to the graduation in colour of the dyeing of the veil is timeless and beautiful. This took 3 months to make. The weight in the skirt is a direct reflection of the quality of the fabric used.

The size would be suitable for an Aus 8-10 and would look amazing for a beach or bush wedding where the skirt could be worn lower than what I did on my wedding day to show just a little skin between the bodice and skirt if desired.

No stains or marks. Was dry cleaned and put away many years ago so I would suggest giving it another clean prior to wearing.

Please note there is no size tag in the outfit as it was custom made but the field above for sizing will not allow it to be left blank and I was a standard size 8-10 depending on brand at the time of wearing.
