About the Dress
A soft fit and flare silk satin wedding dress with classic cap sleeves, perfect depth V-neck, princess seams, a dramatic open back, and matching buttons all the way down the back.
Colour is ivory and fabric is a sandwashed silk satin, which has this stunning ‘glow’ to it that I didn’t see on any (of the many!) other dresses I tried – perfectly complements and enhances a glowing happy bride, and makes your look stand out.
As a testament to its high-quality, it has an unusual three full length layers of fabric to it, which allows it to skim over your curves and flow beautifully as you move. It has a subtle zip around the hips hidden by the buttons and then a button fastening at the top. It’s currently fitted with moulded cups for support which, thanks to the multiple layers, could be very easily replaced with your size. It is also comes already fitted with hooks to bustle it OR a loop to put over your wrist, so it can still look great and allow you to dance without worrying about the train.
The original was designed by Martina Liana for Essense of Australia, and RRP in 2024 was £1900. I purchased it as a bridal size 12, which is equivalent to a UK high street size 10 – it is currently altered to fit me as a UK high street size 12 but could be easily adjusted back to a size 10. It’s in great condition with no visible damage and has been freshly professionally cleaned at a cost of £200.
Floral veil, pictured, also available. Bought from Etsy, and it worked absolutely perfectly with this dress. RRP £360, selling for £250.
Available for collection from SW18 - you are welcome to try on before buying.
Alterations
It has two key design alterations from the original, done by an extremely high-quality seamstress:
1) She shortened the train slightly (about 10 inches?) which gives it much better ease and look of movement when walking, and still looked dramatic and bridal, especially with my 90 inch chapel veil pictured.
2) She used the fabric from the train to replace the original mesh side panels, which exposed a bit much on me, but could be easily switched back if a sexier look preferred.
Extra fabric cut offs for any alterations included at no extra cost.
