The Dress

This is a classic, made-to-order Vivienne Westwood Nova Cocotte gown with silk satin. Inspired by the fashionable high society women of the 18th century, the fitted Nova Cocotte dress features a neckline that sweeps across the shoulders, while the built-in corset cinches in the waist. This is a US 6 (UK 10). It has a lot of stretch - I measured between a size US 2 and US 6 for various areas (hips,waist,bust) for this gown but ultimately went with the US6 to be conservative. Then, I lost 10lbs before the wedding and it still fit snugly and great! Realistically, this gown could fit a variety of sizes. The gown has been expertly and professionally cleaned by Elegance Preserved after the wedding. Overall, the dress is in great shape and would photograph & show well in natural lighting. I paid $8350 for the dress which includes the unavoidable taxes and import duties you’d pay for a new gown. Hemming and carry loop cost $350 and professional clean after wear cost $650. This dress is made to order only, so a new one would require at least 6 months of waiting time.

Alterations

I got this dress very modestly hemmed (I am 5’9.5 or 5’10 with shoes on) and had a carry loop installed (see photos) so I could pick up the train. I wore it on the shoulder, but no alterations have been made to the sleeves— they could be worn up or down, and changed through alterations should you want that.
