About the Dress
The '90s were full of iconic fashion looks that are making a full comeback today, from chokers, to high waist pants and fanny packs. The wedding dress industry is also reviving fashions of the ‘90’s as all-over lace gowns are a wildly popular current trend.
My listing here is a Demetrios wedding gown for a winter wedding that took place in January 1994. Style is versatile for any season wedding - Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter!
Gown has never been cleaned or professionally stored. However local dry cleaner assures dress can be cleaned & restored to excellent condition. Dress does have some stains and a slight musty smell, most likely due to age & being stored for 30 years.
Gown size label is size 8, wearer’s street size at the time was 2/4 with a 34B bust & 5’6” tall. Gown was altered to custom fit - measurements listed below in the alterations box.
Design Features:
Princess Ball Gown
Color “Candlelight White”, looks white but depending on lighting can have a “candle” glow appearance
Sweetheart Neckline
Basque Waistline - a type of bodice that extends below the waistline with a V-shape and close contoured fit, in the style of a corset (very flattering)
Puffed Sleeves which can be worn on or off the shoulder
Cathedral Length Train with American/Traditional Bustle, picks up the fabric from the train and attaches it to the back of the gown using buttons and loops
100% Lace Enhanced with Pearl Beading & Sequins & 3D Floral Appliqués
I wore 2 petticoats underneath the skirt to give the appearance of a very full ball gown
Original dress cost in 1994 was $1,500 (before tax, consultant commission & alterations), which today would be $3,200+ for similar wedding dress.
I also have the 3 layer veil I wore. It was custom made and features a pearl beaded appliqué “tiara”, pearls scattered on the 2 longest layers, with the longest layer being a removable cathedral length layer. The veil cost $350 in 1993. I do not find any issues with this veil. Will include veil (if wanted) with dress… depends on sale price of dress.
Wish I could add more pictures… will post video soon
