The Dress

This vintage dress is beautiful brocade with cotton backing from my mom and dad's wedding. I considered wearing this for my wedding this year, or even just the sleeves, or altering it to just wear the skirt, or even using the train as a tablecloth, but decided to try to give it a second life as a whole dress. I've guessed at the size, but provide measurements below. When I unsealed the box in 2022, I discovered that it had come unsealed (probably when they moved in 2021?) and had yellow discoloration on small sections of the dress and also the train. I've had it dry cleaned and the yellowing is less visible, really hard to see in bright sunlight or dim light. You might be able to see a small area just to the right of the buttons on the front around the middle of the front of the dress, and also on a fold on the train (each about 4" long but quite faint).

The only other wear and tear is that the seam of the train is not stitched. It's folded under and stays neat, so perhaps it never was stitched and you just iron it?

Measurements on dress:
54" from collar to hem
22" from shoulder seam to cuff (but notice the taper so it's longer on the thumb side)
16" across bust (see the darts)
19" across hips
42" across bottom hem

Measurements on train:
64" long
78" wide
has 3 hooks to attach somehow. I'm not familiar with how exactly, but maybe it attaches to the bow?
