The Dress

A vintage, unique, custom wedding dress originally created and worn once in the 1980s (the original price is unknown). It was then professionally dry cleaned and stored until my aunt gifted it to me for my own wedding in 2017. I had it professionally altered (see details below) to be a more elegant, timeless design with a corset back and 3/4 lace sleeves.

Condition: A bit of the train (the underside where it made contact with the ground) is visibly worn down, but the rest of the dress is in wonderful condition.

In my opinion, this is a comfortable dress.
- The lace sleeves are high quality. They are only a little stretchy, and I didn't find them to be itchy at all.
- The corset backing makes the chest/bust size slightly adjustable for a cozy fit. The a-line cut allows it to look flattering on different hip sizes so long as the waist part of the dress fits.
- It comes with a bustle hook and eye in the middle of the back so that the train can be pulled up close to the dress for easier walking/dancing (see Photo #6).

After wearing it for the day, I had it professionally dry cleaned and stored.

Note: I'm 5' 4" and I weighed 130 when I got married. I was a bra size 36 B, and I had some extra room in the front so I used some padding to fill the dress better.

Alterations

Originally created custom in the 1980s, this dress had poofy princess sleeves! I hired a wedding dress tailor to remove the sleeves and replace them with the lace sleeves, with the lace matching the bodice's lace in color and style. The removed sleeve material was then used to make the two corset laces and the corset backing (so that these alterations would perfectly match the fabric of the rest of the dress).
