The Dress

This dress is free to anyone who can use it. A good friend recently described wedding dresses from marriages that didn’t work out as “albatrosses”— they are huge, white, and just hang out in your closet shitting all over everything. This was a beautiful dress and I hope that someone else can enjoy it— I paid $1000 and got it at a pretty deep discount due to Covid. Moving in a week, don’t want to take it with me, and may wear it paintballing if nobody bites on this ad. Read on for more info.

This dress is extremely well made and felt sturdy to wear. There is just a little eyelash lace around the neckline, and small sequins stitched in all over the dress. The sequins are tastefully done and aren't really noticeable unless you look closely, but they attract the light and make this dress really attention-grabbing.

The lace up back to me was a huge plus the dress fit perfectly every time with no alterations to the body (I did shorten the straps slightly). I laced the dress as pictured, but later shortened the laces and tucked them into the dress (no bow was visible). I used a silk covered privacy panel at the bottom of the laces which I will include. I will also include a very soft, simple, fingertip-length veil. The bridal boutique added a silk covered button to bustle the dress and there is a loop for your hand as well. I am 5'8" and wore the dress with cowboy boots with a 1.5" heel.

If you are sketched about wearing a dress from a wedding that did not result in a long and happy marriage I will reassure you that I do not think the dress is cursed. What I remember about this dress was how loved I felt by my friends and family when I was buying it. My best friend, her husband, and their one year old son took two days driving in early 2021 to visit me before the wedding (all were in attendance for dress shopping). My sister planned dress buying appointments and did a significant amount of research to take care of someone (me) who literally knows nothing about dresses and had procrastinated to the point where I had to buy something off the rack. The bridal shop owner had lost her storefront due to covid but invited me to try on dresses in her home, with her 80 year old mother (from whom she had bought the business) wisecracking on the couch. We all ended up taking whiskey shots and I bought a dress. The photos I uploaded are from this day instead of the actual wedding (but I would be happy to share those photos if you'd like to see how the dress looked with accessories/in a more formal setting). I hope someone else can enjoy this beautiful dress.

The dress was professionally cleaned after the wedding. I am happy to talk or share pictures, and anyone for whom it is practical is welcome to try on the dress (I am located in Northern California). Again, the dress is free to a good home but if you want to send me a bottle of tequila or something and pay the shipping that would be cool too.

Alterations

The straps were shortened by about 1/4". The laces were also shortened to reduce the size of the bow.
