The Dress
This ivory silk and Chantilly lace dress is completely unique. It is a one-off design, hand made by Pan Pan Edinburgh.
With a beautiful Empire waistline, sylph-like silhouette and plunging neckline at the front and back - this dress is classic and elegant but subtly sexy all at the same time.
The dress is made from ivory satin silk overlaid with beautiful French Chantilly lace. The lining is also pure silk. The fabrics were all sourced from the Silk Society in London Broadwick Silks, Soho).
The matching bolero jacket is made from silk satin, with covered buttons on the sleeves and an elegant stand-up collar. It was made to fit the dress perfectly - so it looks like part of it when worn.
The dress has a short train, which was pinned up on the day after the ceremony. I have left it pinned up - so you can choose how to wear it.
Below the waistline, the dress is cut on the bias so there is a lot of "give" in it, making it feel great to wear throughout the day and night. The skirt flows over the hips and flares very slightly to the ground with a beautiful - and very flattering - swish. There is a secret "waspie" belt under the dress, to cinch you in and guarantee a perfect silhouette. (Shh!) I am a 32DD, and wore a low-backed bra on the day.
The dress has been professionally dry cleaned - after the wedding, and last month - and a strip of lace at the hem has been professionally mended (about 10cm long) - I have included this part in the close up photo so you can see that it looks as good as new.
Please note the brooch is not for sale. I picked this up in a vintage shop and had earrings made to match - you can make this dress your own by adding your own signature brooch to suit your personal style.
The website says I should include how the dress made me feel on the day. Thinking back, my lasting memory is of feeling like I was living in a fairy tale....and it's still a happy one!
The dress cost £3800 in 2010 - which would be £5750 in today's money. The lace has more than doubled in price since then....so it would possibly cost a lot more to have this one-off gown made for you now.
