After 6 months of endless wedding dress trials, I finally found "the" dress at the Vivian Luk Atelier in Hong Kong.
Vivian Luk is a high-end fashion designer in Hong Kong who creates unique one-of-a-kind creations for the city's elite. After graduating from both the Parsons School of Design and Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, she worked under none other than Vera Wang herself. Her signature style includes draping and flattering lines. The Moonlight gown is part of her White Collection and is the perfect embodiment of her signature styles. In fact, it is a simpler version of Vivian's own wedding gown.
When I first tried it on, it was magic. It fit like a glove - tight but in a good way. And as I saw myself in the mirror, I finally had that "aha" moment and knew that this was the one. It is like no other dress. It manages to be romantic and sophisticated yet girly and fun all at once. The drapes at the top, the way the skirts fold and fall. The stunning figure-hugging mermaid back. It got me feeling very couture. But while the dress has given me many good memories and still brings a smile to my face, instead of hiding it away at the top of my wardrobe for eternity (and space is so precious in Hong Kong), it is time to pass it on to a kindred soul who can let it shine again. The dress deserves to shine again.
I wore the dress briefly for two occasions (because in Hong Kong weddings, we have many dresses). Once for a photoshoot inside a hotel and for a couple hours on my big day (total less than 6 hours, indoor air-conditioned). It has not been dry-cleaned due to concerns that the shape of drapes won’t quite be the same. However it has been spot cleaned at home as best we can. It has been carefully stored in a garment bag and lied flat. Condition around 75% new. Nothing visible unless you examine super closely.
I'm usually an US size 2,110lbs. The length of the dress was slightly long for me even with 85mm heels on (I am 163cm), so there is flexibility for brides who are slightly shorter or taller. The hip area is tight, so would recommend for brides who are around 85cm or so (definitely no more than 88cm). I am a 32A and I added a lot of extra padding, so also suitable for brides with slightly more assets ?
Happy to answer any questions. I am based in Hong Kong.
