I love that this platform has so many users and that it’s a highly likely place for sellers to make a sale. I sold my first one! However I found the site to be far less intuitive than most applications and websites these days. I had multiple questions throughout the process and wish there was more guidance in the selling process. Many of the buyers I communicated with didn’t know how anything worked on the site either so as the seller I felt it was my responsibility to provide answers to secure a sale. The process for calculating shipping is frustrating and made harder since buyers don’t automatically have their post codes listed in their inbox profiles. When it came to selling, I had to go through the Payment FAQs multiple times to make sure I understood the process. If you are a seller, I believe there should be a guide on how payment works that is automatically provided and not sought out to understand. I put my listing on hold as I was prepared to sell to someone and wanted to stop the inbox inquiries from others, but the “Make an Offer” option is removed when an item is on pause. That doesn’t make sense to me! I had to contact the customer service center to learn why the button was not available (this is not covered in the FAQ section). Happily though, the customer service team made it easy to email them and they got back to me in less than 24 hours! Overall, i love the platform for the reach to many customers and the ease of setting up a listing. But I was frustrated by how much time went into figuring out how to use the platform once my listing was live. Will still sell again, especially now that I know what to do.

My only suggestion for improvement is to make the message feature more timely. I noticed some of my messages are held or take a long time to be received and likewise I’m not notified when I receive a message. Would really have preferred a shipping set up like Poshmark. A similar offer button option instead of just messaging would have been nice as well. Happy this service is in place!

Overall, this was a very convenient way to sell the dress. However, the only payment option made available was PayPal, and they took more than 3% of the sale price. This was not clear until after I made an offer. So while I listed the dress for one amount, and the buyer agreed to pay that amount, I got less than the agreed amount. I would have increased the price had I known in time. This was quite upsetting to me.

I had a really good experience as a buyer on Stillwhite - I found the site user-friendly, as it was easy to narrow my search and browse the styles I was interested in. When I found my dress and got in touch with the seller, I was able to ask loads of questions and request extra photos; everything was logged via the site. Payment was quick, easy and secure through the site also, and the seller quickly confirmed she had received the funds. Once my dress was shipped, she sent me photos and details of the shipping, tracking, courier, insurance etc., and I was able to let her know when my gown arrived safely (and thank her!). I'm a British buyer and was purchasing from the USA, so of course I got stung for import duties and customs fees etc. to the tune of about £240 on a £700 dress, but I had totally anticipated this. I still made a big saving, as the dress would have been around £1600 to buy new in the UK (if it was still available, and if I could find one in my size), and the dress I bought on Stillwhite was brand new with tags still attached. I guess I won't be using Stillwhite again as a wedding will hopefully be a once-in-a-lifetime event(!), but if you're a bride-to-be looking for a bargain, something unique, vintage, or unavailable in your country, I'd highly recommend you give them a try. :-)

Stillwhite is a very user friendly app to sell your wedding dress on. The only trouble I had was using PayPal, which is the only way to get paid through stillwhite. 1) Do not use the PayPal app. Only use PayPal in your web browser because the app doesn’t have all the capabilities that you will need for your transaction. 2) PayPal charges a fee (not sure what for) that they take from the payment you receive. In other words you will not actually get all the money from your buyer, PayPal gets some of it!

I’m happy I sold my dress, but now that I’ve seen that PayPal is taking over $20 in fees from me I’m irate that you would recommend that I handle payment through PayPal as a “seller.” Now I’m in a precarious position of having sent my dress but not actually received payment!
