About the Dress

I am selling a beautiful “Anya” dress and “Genevieve” skirt overlay from “KWH by Karen Willis Holmes”, together with a matching veil (3-metre Parisian tulle) from Rue De Seine. This look really appealed to me as it wasn’t too fussy or traditional but was still undeniably special.

I purchased everything from Paperswan Bride in Wellington in December 2017 and wore the ensemble once at my wedding in March 2018.

I am typically a size 6-8 (B-cup) and opted to get the size 8 dress as I didn’t want it to fit too firmly on the big day (dancing, eating, and drinking are important to me!). I am 164cm tall and wore 90mm heels with the dress.

I spent NZ$4280 on the dress, overlay, and veil, and NZ$1600 on alterations. The drycleaning will cost a further NZ$400. I’m willing to sell everything for NZ$2,000 in the hope that another bride can show the dress a good time!

The wonderful bridal alteration team at Meg’s Tailoring in Newmarket (who were recommended by Paperswan Bride) made the following adjustments to the dress:
- shortened the straps;
- took the dress in slightly;
- lowered the back;
- inserted cups into the bust (meaning I didn’t have to wear a hateful strapless bra!);
- shortened the length at the front and slightly tailored the train; and
- added a bustle (but this will need to be redone as it did not survive my dancing).

They also tweaked the length of the skirt overlay and veil to ensure that everything worked together beautifully.

The dress, overlay, and veil are being drycleaned and boxed by Regal Drycleaners in Newmarket and are due for collection at the end of April 2018. There was no soiling or damage to the dress but there were some pulls in the veil and skirt overlay (although I doubt that these would be apparent when worn).
