About the Dress

This Johanna by Kelly Lin is the dress that made me feel completely myself. The A-line silhouette was comfortable and made me feel very secure and confident on my wedding day. I am bigger busted so the corset kept me feeling supported, and the split was customised slightly to the side and stitched so it was ever so slightly lower so that I didn't have to worry about exposure. The dress size is a 16 however my bust size was closer to a 20 so I had the cups designed larger to support me.

The skirt was easy to move in and the 3D effects of the flowers and embroidery caught the light well and made me feel graceful. The dress did not need any steaming prior to the day due to the material of the dress which made the wedding morning that much easier.

When I was wearing the dress I felt sinched in by the corset, which was about 10cm wide at the widest point when it was tightened. This dress features pearl details under the corset where the zip finishes at the hips and corset begins.
There were alterations post purchase to the straps to tighten, and the bottom hem- all of which can be re- altered if needed. The bustle was added (in the 4th photo it is done) and the 7th button was reinforced and I had no problems at all with the dress on the day. The alterations were relatively cost effective due to the material of the dress. Additionally, the colour of the material under the embroidery layer was changed before production to Ivory from the base colour which would have been nude, and the cup/boning lines were hidden by the lining, which differed from the original.

The train was around 1M long and has the continuing detail the whole way through, with additional details converging at the bottom of the train to give another beautiful focal point.

This dress would be perfect for a bride looking for something romantic, feminine, and statement-making without feeling overdone. It would fit easily a wedding dress size 12 - 18 with any alterations required being inexpensive due to the easy material. This dress additionally is perfect for any women with larger busts as it was secure and not too "showy" whilst making me feel snatched, classy and curvy.

I did wear an additional tie-up hip pad under the dress to give me slightly more hip to balance out my wide shoulders, which was very basic but worked a treat- however the dress looked incredible without this also, and has a wonderful A-line flare.

My usual clothes size is a 12-14, and my bust is a 12-14 E/F. I didnt have to wear a bra in this dress as it was very secure.

I hope another bride gets to feel as beautiful in this dress as I did.
