Iconic rare mid 90’s Vera Wang Gold Label gown reminiscent of the ‘Parent Trap’ dress. A style never out of fashion, simple and elegant from the front with a prettiness that delights from behind. Absolute luxury for todays bride or a collector of iconic gowns.
Satin-faced silk organza with box pleats, sleeveless, mock neck, and dropped waist. Delicate stretch mesh décolletage and upper back. Neck and armholes trimmed in same silk fabric. 5 signature Vera Wang bows placed along the back from neck to the base of skirt. Lined Crinoline layers under the the skirt which skims the floor and moves beautifully with bounce, she shines on the dance floor. Silk covered functional buttons, bottom half has hidden zipper under buttons. Hem has stiffening inserted which adds nice swish to the skirt.
Tagged size US 4 but based on alterations and current measurements taken from outside of dress it’s closer to size 2 or in between.
Bust at fullest 33”
Waist - 25.5”
Hip - Free
Length measured from top of mock neck to hem is 57” laid flat. I am 5’3” and wore 3” heels. Dress skimmed the floor. See photo from 1997. Dress could be shorted but would not recommend lengthening as it would show the marks at the bottom of hem line.
Included is a 2 tiered satin edged veil with comb attachment (mint condition). If you prefer a little more drama you could add a long veil or train.
Condition: please read carefully.
Overall excellent condition for a 30 year old dress. It was professionally cleaned, restored and boxed after my wedding in 1997 and opened recently for the purpose of selling and handled with gloves.
Left arm hole edging has tiny marks.
Faint yellowing at armpits edging. It's faint and only noticeable close up with arms raised. May lighten with further cleaning.
Skirt - some marking on hem edge where it skimmed the floor. Not visible when wearing or hung.
4 tiny markings on skirt (3 very faint). The darker one is positioned inside the box pleat so not obvious when standing. It may lighten with further cleaning.
** Visible yellow circular mark on front centre panel at lower breast area. It was caused by the cleaner unfortunately placing a logo sticker on the wrapping. Full disclosure, I showed it to a professional cleaner and they were confident it could be lightened significantly but not sure if it would be removed completely. I also spoke with a seamstress who suggested some options, such as adding lace overlay, appliqué, or beading to the bodice or replacing that panel completely. Any of these would add a true custom look to this iconic design.
Similar dresses of this era and design are selling for between $6500-7800 USD. I have priced this taking into account that additional cleaning or alterations are needed.
