Originally retailed for $16,500 (confirmed by Kleinfeld), this is the 2007 Vera Wang Collection “Eleanor”, an iconic haute couture runway gown famously worn by Carrie Bradshaw in the Vogue photoshoot for the Sex and the City movie. It’s truly a collector’s piece, and I’d love for it to have a second life with another bride.
I’m 5’3” and wore 3” heels and had it taken up at the hem as such. A new lining was added to the inner most layer for comfort. Has original layers of tulle and a crinoline. Bustle recently added by my tailor. It fits an XS (tagged size 4) and was tailored to approximately a 25” waist and 32” bust.
The skirt of the gown has a long train and a beautifully lived-in vintage feel skirt with soft, slightly distressed tulle that creates a romantic, ruffled floral texture throughout. The bodice has matching tulle overlay with 100% silk underneath. The corset top has boning and is drop waist. The back zips up smoothly but does have button all the way down the back. One of my favorite things about it is that it never needs pressing—it doesn’t wrinkle, drapes beautifully, and has enough weight to feel luxurious while still being comfortable, even in the Miami heat.
Now I’d love to pass it along to the next bride who will cherish it just as much.
