About the Dress

This is what I would call an elevated slip dress! The fabric is beautiful and thick with a satin finish and has soft boning in the bodice, though looks very effortless!

There is soft boning in the bodice which holds you in, though is completely unnoticeable from the outside. My frame is very straight up and down (no hips, lol), but this dress still gave me a nice shape thanks to the bodice, beautiful skirt and 30cm train.

My regular clothing size is size 8-10 (depending on the item), my jeans are always size 27 (9).
This dress was ordered in a size 9 and did not need any major alterations when I received it, apart from the length (see section below). There is a sizing guide on the designers website for reference.

I had the shoulder straps shortened (probably a little too much in hindsight) however, the additional length is still attached and can be let out very easily. You can also wear this dress strapless as the bodice holds the dress in pace, not spaghetti straps.

It has an invisible zipper down the centre back. I added decorative buttons to the top section to give it a more bridal look. These can be easily removed.

The dress has been cleaned by the highly regarded Syndal's Bridal Dry Cleaners in Melbourne. They also gave me a lined protective bag for the dress to prevent any chance of moisture, dirt, dust impacting the dress. I also have the original bag from the time of purchasing the dress at Bluebell Bridal.

I was wearing a light fake tan on the day of the wedding and there is some colour transfer on the dress that could not be removed. It is mostly on the shoulder straps and lightly under the arm. I can send some close up photos of these areas.

I found myself picking up the skirt and wearing it over my arm a lot during the day, particularly when I was walking between locations. This was just to protect the dress.

Alterations

All alterations competed at Bluebell Bridal.
Dress length altered to suit my height whilst wearing 8cm heels (176cm with heels).
Decorative buttons added next to back zip.
Spaghetti shoulder straps shortened (length can be let out).
Bustle loops and ties stitched on the inside of the dress (which I didn't end up using on the wedding day). During a fitting we made a video showing how to use these, which I'm happy to send though.
Wrist strap also stitched on to the inside of the dress (which I did use on the wedding day).
