About the Dress

Made from ivory heavy silk satin, this beautiful Vivienne Westwood Comet, is one of the last to ever be produced in this style.

The rounded regal neckline of the Comet sweeps across the shoulders and cinches the waist, due to it's heavy corsetry. Developed from the classic Vivienne Westwood Bagatelle style – originally inspired by women of 18th-century salon culture, first seen in the Vivienne Westwood Spring-Summer 1997 collection, Vive La Bagatelle. The Comet is finished with an asymmetric skirt, the silhouette is almost toga-like with a cascading train, which can be bustled up with 2 concealed buttons, as seen in the photos, or worn over the shoulders and styled with a belt – completely transforming the look.

Dress is fully dry cleaned and in excellent condition. There are a few minor scuffs on the silk, each less than 1 mm in diameter on the back, that you can only see if you really look hard, and a faint mark on the inside lining, but otherwise, it's pristine. They are so tiny it doesn't translate well on camera but I have pointed them out in the video.

It is sold with it's Vivienne Westwood hanger and dust bag. It is a UK dress size 10 but would fit a size 8. Bought for £4,000 from Rachel Scott Couture, Edinburgh, I am looking for £2,800 for it. Delivery will be by UPS or FedEx and is included within the selling price.
