Monique Lhuillier, Maeve

This is a Monique Lhuillier Maeve dress – it is a scoop neck / v-neck ballgown with hand-appliqued floral detailing, a low back and a hidden back-zip closure. The colour is “silk white / cameo” so it has a slight blush appearance (see photos). This is considered one of her most iconic designs.

I wore this dress for 2.5 hours on my wedding day (for the ceremony and cocktail hour) – it was 1/3 dresses worn on my wedding day, so it is in great condition! There are light marks on the very bottom of the dress from when I was walking around, but (i) you can only see these when you look closely and (ii) I have been told that these will come out when it is dry cleaned. The dress has not yet been dry cleaned as it makes more sense to do this at a place where any further alterations are done (especially if the dress is going to be shortened). Happy to discuss.

The lace is beautiful, romantic and photographs so well as it is white on top of the soft blush tulle fabric. The dress is an absolute dream. The ballgown keeps it shape using horsehair I believe (rather than a hoop) and it has light layers of a tulle like fabric. As a result, it is very light and comfortable to wear unlike most other ball gowns. It almost floats. The inside of the dress also has a silk like slip, which makes it so comfortable against your skin.
