Alterations

  • The gown was altered slightly in the following ways: (1) I felt that the original design was too revealing for me, and so they added a few more of the flowers (that are sewn on to the crepe and to the bodice) to the bodice at the bust line to build it in a little so that you're not so naked up top
  • The result - IMO - is even more beautiful than the original Vicenta! (2) I needed a little bit of padding up top! So they added bust pads which can be easily removed (I wear a 34A and these gave me more of a 34C appearance, so the gown can accommodate a larger bust)
  • (3) They added in invisible buttons for a French bustle, which was gorgeous for the reception and made dancing easy! (4) I'm 5 feet 4 inches tall without shoes, and I wore a 3 inch heel
  • They altered the length so that the gown hit perfectly on the ground but didn't make it difficult to walk (meaning, if you're 5 foot 7 or shorter this gown should work for you!)

About the Dress

This is the Pronovias Vicenta gown, purchased in December 2022 in Size 8 at the Pronovias flagship store in NYC for $5800. They ordered a size up since the size 6 I had tried on in the store was stretched out, but we ultimately ended up altering it so that it was closer to a size 6 (if you are looking for a true size 8, this gown will be too tight). The gown came with a small belt that I ultimately decided not to wear, but I'm happy to send pictures of that on request and include in the shipping. My measurements are included in this posting, and I usually wear size 4 in US street clothes. I would suggest going by those measurements to be sure. The material has some nice stretch to it and my hips are the biggest part of my body, so if your hips are 38 inches or less, this should fit.
In terms of flaws, there is a small rip on the train (see picture); when I brought it to my dry cleaner to be sewn and cleaned, they suggested I not repair it as whoever will buy it may want it sewn in a different way (based on alterations you may choose to make). It has been dry cleaned once; there is still a slight amount of dirt on the bottom of the train (only noticeable if you you lift it up and look under), but a 2nd cleaning will be able to make it pristine.
