The Dress

Hand made, stunning and unique silk dress from Cicada Bridal in Seattle. There are two types of lace over the main form of the dress, that creates artistic tension like ice and fire. The lace straps, that make the keyhole back, can be removed for a strapless look. Was worn for the wedding and the first dance and then replaced by a reception dress. There is ribbing for structure and a small train that can be buttoned up.

I chose this dress because it made me feel absolutely womanly and beautiful. My husband had expressed the desire for lace and an open back and it hit all those check boxes. So not only did I feel amazing in it, but my husband was so surprised and loved me in it as well.

It was hand made and great care was taken to make it perfect. I chose the two types of lace because it was fun and unique and created a look that drew your attention to different parts of the dress. I loved the look of the flower lace on my back and shoulders and the loop lace made the body of the dress stand out. It is heavy from the quality silk material, but I never felt too hot in it (and the wedding was the end of July, so it was very hot out).

I don't have my original measurements because it's been ten years and I've had six kids so nothing would be accurate! What I do know is I was a size 32 B for bust and I am 5'3" but was wearing a good 1.5-2" heels on my wedding day.
