The Dress

As a larger/taller girl (5'10, 180 lbs, size 10/12) who had a destination wedding in DR, I wanted a dress that would flatter my curves and still be elegant but comfortable. This dress was perfect for me. It has a corset back so you can tighten the waist without restricting your bust or hips. The straps are also removable with button closures. The trumpet style of the lower part of the dress also accentuated my hips more so my waist appeared smaller. The dress is crepe material and does have a few layers so I would say it has a thicker feel to it. I also added a bustle to the back of the dress which was really convenient for putting it up after the ceremony for the cocktail hour and reception. While the original dress I bought was a size 16 (per the recommendation of the bridal shop), I did have to take it in a bit since I am more like a size 10/12. But I think the corset allows for a lot of flexibility if you are a slightly bigger size. I also had cups added in which are a size B/C and they made my bust look great as you can see in the photo :)

Alterations

The dress was taken in a bit in the bust, wasit, and hips. I believe this was mainly bc the bridal shop told me to get a size 16 even though I am a 10/12. I also had cups added which fit cup size B/C. The dress did have to be shortened bc I bought it with extra length since I am 5'10 without heels. I wore 2 inch heels at my wedding so it fits perfectly at 6' height. So if you are the same height or shorter you should be fine as you can always alter it to be shorter if needed!
