The Dress

This dress is the "Joan" dress from the Vera Wang Luxe line. Our wedding was in 2009, the last time the dress was worn. We need to make some room in our closet, so the time is now to sell. It is mainly a satin dress with the top layer being alternating satin and organza to create the "stripes" look. The dress is very comfortable and so well made. The quality is second to none. The dress' many layers allowed for support for my physique. I did not even have to wear a bra with this!

The dress has a small train in the back and still has the fasteners and ties to bustle the dress if needed. There are two bows in the back as accents as well. They can be removed with the help of a seamstress. The original design has four bows, but I only had them add two in case you look up the stock photos of the dress. I also ordered extra of the satin material from Vera Wang and had my seamstress create a removable halter strap. The wedding photos show the strap. If you do not want that it can be removed but is included in the purchase of the dress! Full disclosure: while the dress has been cleaned, the strap has not.

Speaking of cleaning, the dress has been professionally dry cleaned. Unfortunately, there are a couple of light stains at the bottom of the dress. The last photo shown on the gallery is a close-up of those. If you need the dress shortened, then this would hide the stains completely. Or a more rigorous cleaning could take care of it as well.

Alterations

When the dress was ordered I was in between sizes so a VW size 16 is what the dress label says. However, I ended up needing a lot of "taking in" in the chest, waist, and hips. So the dress is closer to a street size 10. I'm 5'7" and wore 2" heels. The length was perfect so nothing needed to be taken off with that. There is a slight tear on a seam in the back in the organza. A seamstress can fix this or if the dress needs to be taken in some more this would be a spot to do it possibly. Again, there are snaps and buttons inside the top for the removable halter.
