The Dress

A simple yet stunning Kite and Butterfly gown with romantic styling, delicate lace details, and a fresh take on a timeless look.

I know everyone loves their wedding dress, but I honestly received so many compliments from people saying it was the most beautiful wedding gown they had seen in years. I felt beautiful and romantic, while the simplicity of the dress also perfectly suited my mountain wedding atmosphere and practical sensibilities. It was easy and comfortable to walk and dance in (the dance party was one of my priorities!).

I am 5'3" and was wearing 2.75" heels. In hindsight, the dress was hemmed for a flat floor, rather than the slightly longer grass. At my height plus heels, the front of the dress rested 1-2" on the floor. The train is about 3" longer in the back.

Flat dress measurements (approximate):
Bust (pit-to-pit/top of lined bodice)): 16"
Waist (from bottom of sash): 13.25"
Hip: 18"
Sleeve opening: 5"
Sleeve length - pit to sleeve hem (underside of the arm): 3"
Length - waist (bottom of sash) to front hem: 43"
Length - waist (bottom of sash) to back hem: 47"

The dress has been professionally dry-cleaned. There are no stains. It has always been stored flat to avoid stretching the lace. I have closely inspected the dress and found 3 small pulls/holes in the lace. All are in the back/sides of the train. The largest one is pictured. It is in the absolute back of the dress, about 15" from the bottom hem of the train. The hole is about .75" in diameter. None of these pulls/holes are noticeable unless you are very closely inspecting the train. See photos for details.

Alterations

This is a size small dress that I had altered by a master seamstress. The dress was taken in to my measurements at the chest, waist, hip, and sleeves for a more form-fitting look. It was also shortened to my height (5'3" plus heels), preserving the petalled lace hem. Lightly padded A cups were added to the bust (easily removable). Photos will show a delicate crystal belt - this broke while I was getting down on the dance floor and has been removed.
