About the Dress

I had this bespoke dress made in Brazil with a designer called Marilia Dias in Rio de Janeiro.

The dress is light, fluid, with beautiful movement and while it’s beautifully fitted to the body, it’s also comfortable and not super tight which was something important to me.

The top is made with a gorgeous lace and the edges shape the torso creating a beautiful neckline. On top we added a dotted lace covering part of the underneath lace.

I wanted to keep it light and soft so I didn’t have any pads added. Just wore a nipple cover which worked out perfectly.

The hip part is hand embroidered lace with buttons on the back (it has an invisible zipper and the buttons are “fake”). This created a lovely shape to the body.

There is also a belt which has tinny lace applied to it and it just added a final tough to the dress to shape up the waste-line.

The skirt is pretty magical. It has 3 layers of fabric to give movement but it’s still light. The top layer is beautiful light silk that has a bit of a shimmer. I wanted lots of movement so we added 4 gussets which open up to 12m of skirt. The back gusset is longer creating a short train. The skirt is pure lace but the gussets are also hand embroidered with lace.

Like Marie Kondo says: this brought me joy now it’s time to give someone else joy.
