About the Dress

Customized Pronovias Privée wedding gown, worn only for formal portraits and ceremony!

The gown is exquisitely detailed, with a layer of ivory chantilly lace beneath the outermost layer of tulle creating a gossamer, dreamy effect. Delicate white floral embroidery wraps around the dress in a naturalistic pattern, and beading throughout makes the gown glisten gently. Balancing the gentle, organic femininity are carefully placed vertical lines of beadwork that highlight curves and evoke the 1920s.

This dress truly is a work of art—I felt so beautiful wearing it.

The dress has a chapel train; buttons were added to allow it to be bustled.

The original version of the dress has long sleeves—I felt these had a visual heaviness and made me look older, so I customized the dress to have the sleeves end just before the elbows. This worked beautifully to maintain the organic aesthetic of the dress but keep the classic elegance of sleeves. (Note that the photos in the bridal shop still have one sleeve intact, but the final dress has both sleeves shortened to elbow length, as shown in the getting ready and outdoor photos.)

The skirt portion of the dress is slightly sheer, giving the dress a wonderful airy lightness. I wore a midi-length slip matching my skin tone underneath for comfort, which I am happy to include at your request.

The dress is in excellent condition and has been dry cleaned by Jeeves of Belgravia in New York City, some of the best in the business. The only sign of wear is some very faint grey discoloration in one of the underlayers of the skirt. It is very difficult to find even when looking for it—it is so subtle and looks more like a shadow than anything.
