Alterations

  • The dress was made to measure, after I received it in the mail I made alterations to the length, sleeves and waist
  • Sleeves and waist were taken in slightly to give a more fitted look
  • The length originally allowed for a longer train which I didn't like so I had the skirt shortened to floor length (that being said, the flower girls still picked up my dress on the day which made it look like there was still a bit of a train)
  • According to shortening the overall length, we adjusted the high-low contrast at the front

About the Dress

Customized Makani dress from Milamira Bridal, purchased from Etsy. Natural White with blush underskirt, long sleeves and high-low skirt detail. Selling complete with metal sash (which was an additional A$40). Made in Russia.

Look

I bought online as I couldn't find the contemporary, simple, yet elegant look that I wanted for my wedding. And there's even less variety in the shops if you want long sleeves! I received many compliments on the day as well as from friends and colleagues when they saw my pictures. Besides the "beautiful" and "stunning" compliments I believe every bride deserves, a few things that came up repeatedly were that people thought the dress was classic, elegant and timeless. Some even compared to Meghan Markle.

Fabric

The label says Polyester, the seller gave me the following info on what fabrics they used for the different parts: layered circle skirt made of crepe and gabardine, crepe fabric used for the bodice and sleeves. They're all smooth fabrics and the sleeves are a bit stretchy for extra comfort.

Movement

Both the skirt and the lining have a "circle" design and widen from waistline down to the bottom (A-line) which allowed me to move freely and comfortably on the day. We had an all-day wedding from 10am to late with three venue changes, so comfort was a priority for me.

Weight

This dress is much lighter than many other dresses I tried on! This adds to comfort but also meant I wasn't feeling sweaty at all.

Condition

The dress is in pristine condition. It has been dry cleaned, and the seam has been thoroughly cleaned after the wedding so there is near to no staining. I inspected every inch of the skirt in full day light and could only find three minor spots (more like shades) near the seam on the right hand side of the dress. I'm more than happy to send picture or videos of the dress, just contact me if you're genuinely interested in buying.

Shoes

I'm also selling my shoes size EU38/39 for A$180 if you're interested to get the complete look! Shoes were RRP A$308.95 from Ted Baker in Hong Kong. The style was not available in Australia. They are blush pink in color (a very close match to the underskirt) with rose-gold detail at the bow. Ted Baker heels all have a thick cushioned sole which makes them more comfortable compared to other heels. They are basically like new as I changed shoes after the ceremony - I usually don't wear heels.
