The Dress

Absolutely beautiful, simple, sleek and modern dress from Loversland in Toronto - their in-house "Sutton" dress made by the local designer Susan Dicks.

I felt amazing in this dress - it was absolutely perfect for my low-key urban wedding! It was so flattering with just the right amount of waist definition while still maintaining that very minimal, sleek look. It has a low back that hits just at the waist, which helps give you that definition and a bit of coverage while still being a bit sexy. Very light and comfortable!

The material is a delicate silk that drapes and photographs beautifully. As dresses in this style and fabric can tend to show lumps & bumps I had them double layer the skirt (same fabric) for a more flattering and smooth look. This added $200 to the retail price.

There is technically no train but it does graze the floor with a little bit of length in the back - no need for a bustle. I am 5'8" and wore 2-inch heels.

This was made to measure - typically I wear a street size 6 and I am quite curvy (32DD bust and larger hips/butt). I was so happy to find a dress in this style and material that had just enough structure to hold me in. Alterations included moving the strap position slightly toward the sides in order to give a bit more support (a genius move by Susan), but this can easily be reversed.

I've had the dress professionally cleaned already by Grace Gown Care here in Toronto ($300) so it is all good to go!
