For sale is my Jenny Packham 'Aspen' gown. I wore the dress in April 2013 for our 1930s vintage wedding.
A short video clip of our wedding showing the dress, its colour, how it looks and moves, can be viewed at http://vimeo.com/64534140
The Aspen gained a following after Jenny Packham used an image of the gown to spearhead her worldwide 2012 Spring/Summer Collection campaign, and again after Kate Middleton wore a peacock version to the 2012 Olympic Gala.
This beautiful vintage inspired all-silk gown just oozes 1930s Hollywood glamour. The design showcases beautiful slick chiffon, light & lacy cap sleeves, lace detailing in the bodice, and an all-lace illusion back which fastens with a row of silk clad buttons. The waist is clinched by a silk sash with beautiful embellishment detail at the front and a delicate bow at the back. The fitted bodice falls away into a full silk skirt with a silk-chiffon overlay. The skirt is semi-fitted at the hips and ends in a long puddle train. All these design traits combine for a stunning and memorable wedding gown.
I had the gown made to order in the UK and the size is a UK8. I am a standard AUS8, and felt that the sizing was generous - the UK8 felt more like a AUS10. I therefore had the gown taken in around the bodice & waist. The hips were not altered. I also had the waist lifted, as the original sat approx 5cm below my natural waist. Further, I had extra lace added at the bust for modesty, as the original cut of the gown is very low. Lastly, I had the dress taken up to suit my 157cm frame (which I wore with very high heels). All alterations were done by a fabulous dressmaker who has made many custom-order wedding gowns, and who works as a designer for a well known fashion brand. The colour is called platinum - the identical colour used in the Jenny Packham advertising campaign photos. The video and photos show the colour accurately.
This dress is both stunning & comfortable. I felt absolutely amazing in the dress and received so many compliments.
The gown is in fabulous condition. It has been dry cleaned by Brisbane's best - Leon's Fine Dry Cleaning in Woolloongabba. The hem had absolutely no signs of wear. The gown has been wrapped in acid free tissue paper and professionally boxed for long term storage.
I am based in New Farm Brisbane and am more than happy for genuinely interested brides to view the gown. Happy to post at buyers expense. Any questions, please ask. Thanks!
