A La Robe
Sold by Gemma
Private Seller · New Zealand
I purchased my gorgeous wedding dress and silk skirt from A La Robe designer Elizabeth Soljak from her Parnell, Auckland boutique before she took her business overseas.
Ivory in colour, it’s Japanese cotton lace with a cotton slip underneath. I also have a tea stained dusky pink silk Pas De Deux skirt. The dress is cut on the bias so very very versatile for lots of different body shapes and sizes. A bias cut hugs the body in all the right places. I was a D cup in the boob however I’ve recently tried it on as an E cup after having my babies and it still sits beautifully. At the time of my wedding, I was a 10/12. You could easily wear this dress as a size 10, 12 or a small (short) 14. (I had to choose the label size by default but the dress doesn't actually have a size sewn in it)
Having the skirt allowed the blowing in the wind look without all the excess bulk. I had the skirt cut and wore it with the opening at the front of the dress so when I walked, you could see the beautiful Japanese lace dress underneath. The ground was uneven so I wore flat slides and when it came round to dancing, I took the skirt off and changed my shoes for ‘reception’ look without having to buy a whole other dress. Very comfortable and super soft. I had so many compliments!
It’s designed to have a crushed look to the dress and skirt to give it texture. Check out the designers A La Robe instagram/website. You could wear the skirt any way or if you choose, not at all. Sorry my photos aren’t the best when the skirt is off. You can no longer buy this dress and there were only ever a couple made.
There is a tiny very faint pink mark on the inside of the dress on the slip section just near the bust. I had confetti and a little piece went down my dress and got stuck. (you can see the exact moment on the ‘Our Brides’ section on the A La Robe webside). It isn’t on the lace and cannot be seen when the dress is on. See the last photo, it is very very faint but again, cannot be seen when the dress is on. The Pas De Deux skirt is still perfect.
My dress designer offered a wash service which is how I had my dress washed, not ‘dry cleaned’. I also have a piece of the silk skirt you can wrap and tie to your bouquet if you desire.
Please contact me for measurements. I welcome you to try it on, you will fall in love. I am in Mount Maunganui in the Bay of Plenty, NZ but happy to meet somewhere within reason to try it on. Please contact me.
