The Dress

Monique Lhuillier 's Bliss Collection style # BL0916. This is a stunning, classic wedding gown, that is truly timeless. I wore it for my wedding in 2010, then had it professionally cleaned and preserved by a certified wedding gown specialist.
I never had any intention of selling this dress until this year. As I began to clean out my closets, I realized there is no point in keeping such a gorgeous gown, one that has been so carefully cleaned and preserved, sitting in a box in my closet.
I wore this gown for 7 hours on April 25, 2010 at my wedding.
I purchased this dress for $2700 at Kleinfeld Bridal in Manhattan, and paid an additional $600 in alterations. All alterations to the dress were made on-site by a Kleinfeld master seamstress.
Dress description: Ivory Silk Taffeta Strapless Ruched Elongated Bodice Gown with full circle skirt. Side Zip. The seamstress added three hidden satin buttons and loop holes for a simple yet elegant bustle.
I am 5’8”, and at the time of my wedding, I weighed 120 pounds.
This wedding gown was extremely comfortable to wear. The dress has interior boning & my seamstress added a waist stay, which is a wide interior band with an easy side closure, that sits slightly above the waist, easily hooks up inside the dress, and holds the dress in place. Absolutely genius! I didn’t pull or tug once to keep the dress from shifting or slipping down the entire night. The gown wore like a dream, I really couldn’t have been more thrilled with that night and with the gorgeous photos that I will treasure. The shoes I wore with the dress had a 2.5” heel.
For reference with other brands at the time I wore this wedding gown, I wore a size 27 waist in AG Goldschmidt denim & James jeans, a size 4 in J. Crew bottoms, a size 6 in J. Crew and Banana Republic dresses and tops. I wore a size 6 Jenny Yoo dress (that was taken in at the waist a bit) for my rehearsal dinner. For my best friend’s wedding less than a month following mine, I wore a size 6 Lela Rose bridesmaid dress, and had the waist and belt of dress taken in, getting it to more of a size 4.

Alterations

The dress has interior boning & my wonderful seamstress added a waist stay, which is a wide band with bra-like closures that sits at the waist, hooks up inside the dress, holds the dress in place.
The seamstress added three hidden satin buttons and loop holes for a simply elegant bustle.
I purchased a size 6 gown, and after alterations were made to have it fit closer to my torso, it fit more like a size 4.
