The Dress

Dolly Couture 1950s style wedding dress, with chiffon roses, ruched waistband and large bow. I love 1950s and 1960s design, so really wanted something to capture that mood! People were amazed by how many flowers are on it, as it makes the dress very distinctive. The skirt is obviously very full, but I found the dress to be very comfortable on the day.

This dress was based on the Beverly Hills, but I asked for some changes to the design. Mine has a strapless, slightly pointier sweetheart neckline than original, I had the waistband shaped/curved into the bust a bit more (as opposed to straight across), fuller skirt by doubling the petticoats and in a longer tea-length. The bodice is boned. The bow is attached with a pin (a badge type pin). The colour looks like a deep ivory/cream - the second photo of the front & back views of the dress is the most accurate.

When I ordered it, I asked for 38" (96.5cm) bust and 29.5" (75cm) waist. The dress was a little big around the bust, so I had it taken in an inch or two. It's difficult to measure because of the boning, but I got about 36" (91.5cm) when I tried.

It is stored in a PH neutral box with acid free tissue paper. I had it dry cleaned after the wedding, but it may need freshening up as I got married in 2010. There are a couple of patches with a very slight hint of yellow to the inside of the bodice, which I think might be due to it's age, but they are barely noticeable.
