The Dress

This custom made dress by talented and details-focused South Australian Designer, Greta Kate, was an absolute dream to wear on my wedding day in October 2020.

Vintage-style soft and delicate pleated tulle couture gown, featuring pretty off-the-shoulder trailing ties or wings. They can be tied as you please and can replace a veil, as they did for me, or compliment one beautifully. Slightly rounded neckline with intricate crossover detailing on the bust and back. Fully lined and lightly boned for shape and comfort. Delicate matching material-covered button and loop detailing down the back, and hidden zip. Flattering A-line skirt with 70s-style gathered detailing, extending out to a short train. Includes fully detachable high waisted tulle belt to further emphasise the waist, with same button fastening (worn in all pictures). All in the same on-trend ivory pleated tulle and double-lined with light cream silk.

The silhouette is very flattering, emphasising the waist and bust, and the material doesn't add any bulk. The top does not have cups sewn in, allowing for wear with or without a bra or shapewear (I wore neither and felt supported and comfortable all day) and means it can be more easily taken in for a smaller bust.

The train can be tied up with a bustle or wrist loop so it's easier to walk around for photos and dance through the night.

Without heels I am 174cm (5"8 1/2). My heels were 12cm high. Train from waist is 170cm. I have an hour-glass shape with a bigger bust and similary proportioned hips, but a small waist and back. The A-line shape of the skirt allows for flexibility with hip measurements.

The dress was only worn during the ceremony and portraits, not at reception. It has been expertly dry-cleaned by GretaKate’s recommended cleaner and came up in perfect condition.

Greta and I worked together for months to create this uniquely modern, but vintage-inspired dress. I don't want to leave it sitting in my wardrobe for life, so I'm hoping someone else can enjoy wearing it on their wedding day as much as I did!
