The Dress

For me this dress checked the boxes of being elegant, classic and a subtly unique. The ivory lace overlaid champagne colored silk made it feel a little more interesting than a traditional bright white dress. The gown is definitely snug fitting until about the mid thigh, but I felt there was enough movement around my legs for dancing. The train was long enough to make an impression, but not overly so to be cumbersome and I used a French bustle for the reception, which I loved. For the ceremony I had a satin sash that I wore around the waist, but took this off for the reception. I think it looks beautiful with or without any additional waist embellishment. The gown does not have any stains or tears and looks almost exactly as it did when I first put it on, on my wedding day.

The dress was originally purchased at Emma & Grace Bridal in Denver. I never knew exactly what I was looking for when I set out to look for my dress, but knew I wanted to purchase it from a small boutique bridal shop. From the moment my mom and I walked into Emma & Grace, it was personal and intimate. Though my dress wasn't a custom gown, it felt tailor-made. The whole experience of finding my dress to wearing it on my wedding day felt just right.

Alterations

The gown was originally strapless, but I needed to have a little more coverage to my shoulders for our church ceremony so the lace was added to the top part of the gown. I think it could easily be taken off by a seamstress if you preferred to have it be strapless.
