The Dress
This dress is absolutely stunning-- it photographs beautifully, catches in the wind, and is incredibly lightweight and comfortable. I wore it for my wedding in above 30 degrees celsius and didn't feel like it added any heat to the day. I opted for the straight skirt instead of the much heavier waterfall skirt that you would see on the website photos of Michelle (really wanted to make sure it was as light as possible given the weather). Frankly, I felt like a goddess in this dress- the design, fit and fabric would have been hard to beat. And for any Canadians on the hunt for their dress, Truvelle is a Vancouver-based, made-to-order designer.
The description on the Truvelle site describes the dress best:
"This gown features a plunging neckline, open sides, and a striking back. The skirt is made of 10 yards of hand-draped chiffon, which catches movement and the wind perfectly. The lace bodice and off-white chiffon skirt is tied together beautifully with a silk bow that is both elegant and dramatic.
The bodice is lined with a stretch satin, and lies close to the skin. Minimal support is provided through the straps and waistband, so it’s most appropriate for those with a smaller chest."

There were very, very minimal alterations made. For reference, I'm 5'10" and wore 5" wedge heels with a 1.5" platform. I had the dress half-hemmed to that height (slightly longer in the back). I also had the straps shortened very slightly (again-- 5'10" and I'm all torso, so the average person would not have any issues with that). Finally, I added cups for an A-B sized chest, but they are lightly stitched in and can be very easily removed.
I had the dress dry cleaned right after the wedding. Somehow in the process of dry cleaning, an absolutely tiny pen mark (really a dot) was made on the chiffon skirt (under the silky overlay). It is honestly not visible at all (to the point where the dry cleaners didn't see it when I brought the dress back to complain, nor did my husband). I'm only mentioning it as I brought my type-A eye to the dress and I would never fail to note something like that.
