The Dress

I must have tried on at least 100 dresses before saying yes to mine! My mom and I didn't think any other dress was special, but when I tried on my dress, we both fell in love. I don't think the pictures do the fabric justice - I can't even describe the fabric -- it has white shapes that looked almost like painted-on silk, as well as flowers, and there are pearls and white rhinestones that make the dress sparkle in a lit room.

We can definitely arrange a try-on if you are near Manhattan or Westchester. I prefer an in-person sale.

The dress was the first to come out on the runway in Fall 2016.

I had detachable cap sleeves made - that I wore for the ceremony. The sale can include these straps.

I took the waist in one inch from the sample size 8. I am a street size 2. My weight fluctuates quite a bit, so it fit snugly when I took it home from the store, and was loose when I wore it for my wedding, but it fit on both days - so I think it can fit a small range of sizes - it's just a matter of how comfortable it will feel. I think my waist was about 28 or so inches for my final fitting and 26 or so inches at my wedding.

I moved a couple flowers on the bodice - they were originally touching the skin on my bust so I moved them down so the neckline would be cleaner.

The seamstress added a bustle, but I didn't use it because the train isn't that long and I changed into a different dress after the ceremony.

I had a petticoat sewed into the bottom of the dress to make the skirt poof out more. I am pretty sure you can remove the petticoat if you prefer the original shape of the skirt. I am 5'1 and I wore 4.75 inch heels. I also left the dress about a half inch too long because I didn't want anyone to see my shoes or feet. Because I put in a petticoat to make the dress poof out more than it was intended, we didn't cut off much of the length. We cut off about 4 inches or so from the front, and left the back the original length. If you are taller, you can make the skirt longer by taking out the petticoat.

I have not yet gotten the dress dry cleaned, so I'm sure the bottom underside of the dress is not clean, but that part can't be seen when the dress is on.
