The Dress

Description from Allure:
This romantic ballgown is created from layers of soft organza. The bodice features a sweetheart neckline with lace, while the waistline has a satin band with a sparkling Applique.

Story:
When I first tried on this dress, it was actually in blush and had definitely been tried on a few times. I ended up purchasing the ivory color. For me, it had the perfect amount of volume, and it flowed on the floor without looking too much like a ball gown. When I had the initial fitting, it had much more volume than the one I had tried on and it was also much heavier. Fortunately, I found a seamstress, who pulled out the petticoat underneath, which made the dress significantly lighter, but it still had the volume and flow that I wanted. The dress gave me the sophisticated feeling of a ball gown, but had the look of a fun, flowy dress that worked perfectly for our destination wedding in Mexico.

Dates:
I purchased this dress on November 29, 2015 and wore it just once on my wedding day, which was June 26, 2016, and it was professionally cleaned at the dry cleaners on November 2016.

Size:
I purchased the dress as a Size 10, but I typically wear a Size 4 or 6, and medium size shirts. My bra size is also normally a 34B, but I will say that the dress can definitely accommodate a slightly larger breast size. Even with the sew-in cups, it felt a bit loose at the chest, but it would have been significantly more expensive to alter it that portion. The waist was also a bit tight for me, but manageable throughout the day. Here are my measurements at the time I wore the dress. Bust: 33.5" Waist: 28", Hips: 38.5"

In addition to the hemming and removal of the petticoat/tulle underneath, the seamstress also added a french bustle and sew-in breast cups, which can easily be removed. It helped fill in a bit of space and add just a bit of volume.
