The Dress

This Vera Wang gown exudes 1930s old Hollywood glamour. As seen on Beyonce, Australian celebrity Kate Waterhouse...and me! The dress is made of Ivory silk charmeuse (very flattering as there are layers of fabric). The back of the gown is the show-stopper - gathered English tulle topped with silk velvet roses - utterly romantic and alluring.

This gown is on sale NOW at the Vera Wang boutique at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sydney and retails for $5100.

I saw pictures of Kate Waterhouse's wearing this dress at her 2012 Italian wedding in Sicily and fell in love with it. (Pictures included in gallery).

Beyonce also wore this dress in her "Best Thing I Never Had" video.

I choose this dress because it's classic and elegant and will stand the test of time...and it's Vera Wang - the Rolls Royce of wedding designers!

I made very minor alterations via Effie Bridal in Mosman (the best). Cups were sewn into the gown but can be removed. Effie also added a finger loop so the train didn't drag on the ground. She also added a few more velvet roses at the top of the dress at the back and stitched the tulle in the front together ever so slightly so it wasn't quite as revealing and low cut. The back panel of the dress (where it ties in back) was also taken in slightly. The dress was professionally cleaned at Blue and White in Crows Nest, who specialise in preserving wedding gowns (the dry cleaning alone was $420).
