About the Dress

The dress of my dreams! This romantic bridal gown from Monique Lhuillier Spring 2024 collection (embroidered a-line Antoinette gown) is not only one of the most comfortable dresses ever but it is also extremely versatile and beautiful. The gown comes with a short-sleeve lace 'jacket' that you can use at the ceremony and dinner during your wedding day and then take it off for a completely different dress underneath! For my wedding I used the jacket for the ceremony, dinner and first dance and then for the party I took it off and it gave me the feeling of having a different 'party' dress.

The dress without the jacket is just as beautiful. The 'v-neck' neckline with open back makes this dress perfect for a romantic or classic wedding. Additionally, as you can see in the pictures, the train of this dress is just WOW... and then it is super easy to just bustle it for additional comfort after the ceremony. The dress has hooks that pick up the train of the gown and tuck it under the silhouette itself. (I tucked it in for my first dance so it was easier to dance but you can leave it open as well and it is not that long).

Another thing that I loved about the dress is the details. The details of the 3D flowers really show how much of an artist Monique Lhuillier is. Every 3D flower is perfectly placed so it does not interfere with your silhouette. I love looking at pictures from the wedding and find more and more details.

Oh, and the veil! I have no words for that veil. It is simple so that it doesn't compete with all the details of the dress, and then at the end it has the same embroidery as the dress so that you can appreciate that the entire look (dress, jacket, veil) is part of one piece of art. I added a picture of the veil but honestly I feel bad that I don't have a picture of that veil when it was fully open on the floor... it was incredible.

Ok, how comfortable it is? Super super comfortable. The jacket is not tight on the neck or the sleeves as you can see on the pictures, so you don't feel suffocated (which was a priority for me). You can also see on the video that I was able to dance super comfortably with the jacket on (the train was already tucked in). Another thing that I love is that even with all the details that has outside, the inside of the dress is super comfortable (the lining is very well done). The dress is also not heavy (I mean, all wedding dresses feel a bit heavy) but I danced all night until 4AM and did not feel it once. I wanted for the top part (chest, and waist) to be fitted but not tight so that I could eat and drink in peace all night and it was perfect (you could make it even tighter to be honest).

On alterations, the only alteration done was to change slightly the cup of the breast as I felt that the original made my breast look too flat. The new cup has a shape that gave me a bit of a push up :) but it doesn't have any additional material or fabric inside.

By the way, the condition of the dress very good. I got it cleaned and restored at J.Scheer&Co which is the company that Monique Lhuillier's boutique exclusively recommends for cleaning of their gowns. They use top materials for cleaning and making sure that the gown has no minimal of wear. In my case, my wedding was at a ballroom so it didn't get that dirty and nothing got broken (no loose 3D flowers) but I still sent it to them because I really want the next bride to wear this magical dress in perfect conditions and enjoy it as much as I did. Honestly, this dress should be worn more times! It deserves it!
