The Dress

This was my dream dress. Gorgeous soft feathers are delicately placed to create a sweetheart neckline. This is paired with a fitted drop empire waist, an intricate embroidered beaded belt (included), as well as the layers of tulle ruffles. This dress is a perfect balance of both whimsical and classic. The bodice itself is made of a very soft tulle, The chiffon skirt is created with a myriad of tulle layers and ruffles, creating volume while remaining very lightweight. There is a very small train of ruffles at the back, as well as a corset lace backing.

It took me a long time to find my dream dress, but when I tried on the Benicarlo by Pronovias, I knew that this was it! It was purchased at a bridal boutique called Jealous Bridesmaids located on Bloor West in Toronto. It was worn at a destination wedding in Costa Rica in January 2015, only for the ceremony and reception. The ceremony took place on the beach and lasted for about 45 minutes. The dress was only minimally exposed to sand as we had walked down a carpeted aisle, and absolutely did not get wet. The reception took place in a home (no sand or water).

The dress was professionally dry-cleaned by Love my Dress in Toronto (receipt available). Selling this dress was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. It took me a while to finally decide to part ways and list the dress as we are now preparing our home for a baby arriving later this year!

Alterations were professionally done on-site at Jealous Bridesmaids (paid about $400 ontop). The bust area was taken in on both sides by about 1 cm each side. A bustle was created to be able to lift the small train off the ground. The length was taken up by approximately 1 inch (I am 5 foot 7, and wore ~ 2 inch heels).
The dress was professionally dry cleaned at Love my Dress in Toronto.
However, after dry cleaning, I discovered a 2 inch vertical tear in the back of the dress where it bustles. I discovered that the dry cleaners did not remove the bustle prior to dry cleaning the dress and the weight of it probably lead to the tear. I was quite upset at the dry cleaners. Fortunately, the tear was fixed by the seamstress at Jealous Bridesmaids and is now barely noticeable, especially since the area is buried in ruffles.
The feathers look slightly worn compared to the original photos, after dry cleaning.
Because of these factors, I have decided to lower my selling price from $1500 to $950 (original price $2800 CAD)
